Online Payment (Stripe)

Pro and Premium, add-on in LiteOn Lite, you can add online payment as an add-on.

How guests pay online, where the money goes, and how your payment account is set up

Guests who buy a voucher online (Chapter 24) or pay right when they book (25.4) pay through the payment provider Stripe. You need your own Stripe account for this. miraTEQ creates it for you and fills in most of it, the last few minutes are yours. If you already have a Stripe account, you connect it yourself (25.6).

Every payment goes straight into your Stripe account. You are the seller, and your business name appears on the guest’s card statement. Stripe pays the money out to your bank account on a regular schedule. miraTEQ never holds your money and cannot move it.

Stripe charges a fee on every payment and deducts it before the payout. For vouchers you can pass that fee on to the buyer as a service fee (24.4). Stripe publishes its current prices on stripe.com.

  1. miraTEQ creates your Stripe account and fills in what we already know: business name, address, website, language and currency.
  2. You receive an invitation link from miraTEQ. It stays valid for 14 days.
  3. Open the link. It takes you to Stripe.
  4. Check the details that are already there, confirm your identity with an ID document, and enter the bank account for your payouts (IBAN).
  5. When you finish, Stripe brings you back to your miraBOOK panel.

This takes about five minutes, because most of the form is already filled in. The identity check is required by anti-money-laundering law. No payment provider can skip it, and miraTEQ cannot do it for you.

Once Stripe has checked your details, your account can accept payments. If you open the invitation link again after that, it says “All set”: “Your payments are active. There is nothing else to do.”

Your account comes with Stripe’s full dashboard at dashboard.stripe.com. Sign in with the email address of your Stripe account. There you see every payment, your payouts and any card disputes, and you can download statements for your bookkeeping.

Refunds for vouchers are easiest from the panel, with Refund (24.6). Everything else, such as a payout that did not arrive, is handled in the Stripe dashboard or by Stripe’s support.

If you want, guests pay right when they book, either the full amount or a deposit. miraTEQ sets this up for you, there is no switch in the panel. Tell us whether the full amount is due or a deposit (for example 30 percent), and how long a place stays reserved without payment. Without your say it is 30 minutes.

What the guest sees:

  1. They choose the service, the time and enter their details as usual. The last button then reads Book and pay. With a deposit, the amount due already appears in the summary.
  2. Complete your payment opens and the place is reserved for them. They see the Total, with a deposit also Deposit now and Remaining on site, and how long the place is held.
  3. They pay on Stripe’s payment page and come back to the confirmation. Only now is the appointment confirmed, and only now do they and you get the email.

If you have terms and conditions, the guest accepts them before paying. Under Your Details the box “I have read and accept the Terms and Conditions.” then appears with a link to your terms, and without the tick they cannot continue. You enter your terms in the Legal tab of the vouchers (24.5), or miraTEQ links the terms page of your website. Which terms the guest accepted is recorded with every booking in the activity log, in the file from “Download as table” (23.2).

If they change their mind, Discard booking frees the place at once. If they simply leave the payment page open, the place becomes free again when the time runs out.

In the panel, Payment due appears next to the name while the booking is unpaid. After payment it says Paid, and the Payment line in the booking shows the amount, for example “Paid online: €16.50”. You do not need to confirm anything, the payment does that. If a place expires, it says “Not paid, place released” and the booking is cancelled.

Open the booking and tap Refund. The panel asks for the amount and suggests everything not yet refunded. You can also refund part of it, for example the deposit minus a cancellation fee. You cannot refund more than was paid.

The Payment line then shows how much went back, for example “€5.00 of €16.50 refunded”. The guest receives the money within a few business days. If they paid with PromptPay, Stripe first emails them to ask for their bank account. Cancelling and refunding are separate steps: a cancellation does not pay anything back by itself. Only the owner can refund, staff logins do not see the button.

If you already have a Stripe account, or miraTEQ does not set one up for you (25.2), you connect it with a restricted key. That is an access code you create yourself in Stripe. It allows only two things: opening payment pages for your guests and refunding payments. Payouts, your bank account and your customer data stay closed to miraBOOK, and the money goes straight to your account as in 25.1.

  1. Open the account on stripe.com, in the country of your business. Stripe asks about your business, for an ID and for the bank account for payouts.
  2. Under dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payment_methods, turn on what your guests should pay with. Cards are on from the start. PromptPay is only available to accounts in Thailand and only for prices in baht.
  3. Open dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys and create a restricted key (“Create restricted key”). Start with no permissions and name it “miraBOOK”.
  4. Set exactly two permissions to Write: Checkout Sessions and Refunds. Everything else stays at None.
  5. Tap “Create key” and confirm with the code Stripe sends you. Stripe shows the key only this once. It starts with rk_live_.
  6. Send it to miraTEQ as an encrypted message, for example via Signal or WhatsApp. Not by email. Delete the message afterwards.

Before payments are switched on, miraTEQ checks the key with Stripe. If a permission is missing, the check names it, and you add it in Stripe under “Edit key”, no new key needed. If the key can do more than it needs, payouts for example, we tell you that too.
